SIA Thunderbolt Coil Gun, SIA Trial WIP
Working on similar principles to rail guns, coil guns use electromagnetic pulses to propel slugs at very high speed. With no moving parts, and nothing to eject, the weapon is simplified, reducing weight and cost. Due to the the weapon being in the proof of concept phase, proper sights have yet to be fitted. Charged by a battery in the rear, a 5mm magnetic slug is loaded into the firing chamber, then launched using an EM pulse which has the additional benefit of knocking out nearby enemy electronics, while it is necessary for the operator's own personal electronics to be EM shielded. The magazine hold 45 slugs.
