Old Swiss Church
This is possibly the Swiss Reformed Church of Würzbrunnen, a former pilgrimage site in the municipality of Röthenbach im Emmental, Bern, Switzerland (it is at least of the same design, including the building structure, clock face and steeple). The church was under the patronage of St Stephen, but the pilgrimage was dedicated to St Wolfgang.
There was originally a wooden structure said to have been donated by Leuthold von Rümligen (1115-1148). After a fire in 1494 the church was rebuilt in its present form and in 1779 the interior was painted in baroque forms with many Biblical verses.
Today it is a widely popular wedding church, with numerous weddings from April to October each year.
Taken in 1990, I'm not sure why I would have been there, although on the probable day concerned I did travel from Wengen to Berne and back by train - but Röthenbach im Emmental seems a bit off the track. I've been unable to find another like it on the interweb...
