American Queen River Steamboat
The American Queen docked in Hannibal, Missouri on Sunday due to problems with the locks in St. Louis, Missouri. The steamboat is scheduled to depart today. When I heard this majestic steamboat was there I jumped in the car and drove the 20 minutes to Hannibal. She didn't disappoint. I had seen the Delta Queen and the Mississippi Queen in the past but never the American Queen.
The American Queen was built in 1995, has 6 decks, 222 staterooms, is 418 feet long and 89 feet wide. She is said to be the largest river steamboat ever built. A true beauty she is.
Out of curiosity I looked up the fate of the Delta Queen and the Mississippi Queen. The Delta Queen is currently docked in Chattanooga, Tennessee and is being used as a hotel. Sadly, the Mississippi Queen was scrapped in 2011.
Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!
