Closed storefronts in a nearly dead mall in Sterling,IL. The mall opened in 1972 and was very successful for its first 20 years. Cracks began to appear the Woolworth store left in 1992 and the Walgreens left for a standalone location nearby. The floodgates opened in the late 2010s when the other 2 anchors left. Today the mall is only about 25% occupied with the largest tenant,Hobby Lobby, closed off from the rest of the mall....
