Het prachtige Dourodal in het noorden van Portugal is niet alleen geliefd bij toeristen maar inmiddels ook een bedevaartsoord voor liefhebbers van klassieke treinen. Hoogtepunt zijn daar de Engelse diesellocomotieven (in licentie gebouwd in Portugal) uit de jaren 60 met o.a. rijtuigen uit de jaren 40. De volledige treinrit met de CP (Comboios de Portugal) langs de Douro van Porto naar Pocinho duurt ongeveer 3,5 uur. Dit beeld bij Arnozelo zegt voldoende waarom het hier aantrekkelijk is voor zowel toeristen als spoorwegliefhebbers.
The beautiful Douro Valley in northern Portugal is not only loved by tourists but now also a place of pilgrimage for lovers of classic trains. Highlights there are the English diesel locomotives (built under licence in Portugal) from the 1960s with a.o. coaches from the 1940s.
