Star Trek lost scenes: Star Trek III Lord Kruge & Maltz assessing intelligence scans of the Enterprise
After reviewing the Genesis information with his officers, Kruge orders up all known intelligence on Admiral Kirk, his ship, and the project itself. Long range detectors reveal a recently battle hardened USS Enterprise. Kruge: Maltz… what enemy inflicted this on Kirk’s ship?
Maltz: Intelligence suggests… human renegades, my Lord. Survivors of Earth’s distant past, long thought dead.
Kruge: (snarls, then laughs low) Renegades… humans, you say? From Earth’s past? Revived?
Maltz: Yes, my Lord. By all accounts… they were formidable.
Kruge: (studying the scars on the Enterprise hull) Formidable indeed. They fought like Klingons to wound Kirk so deeply. Hah! They certainly don’t make humans the way they used to…Maltz, they made our job easier…but I like a challenge!
