Ponderosa Pine
Growing from 5,600 – 9,500 feet, the Ponderosa pine is one of the most common trees in the Montane Ecosystem of Rocky Mountain National Park. The bark of the Ponderosa pine changes from gray-brown to cinnamon-red as it ages, and releases a pleasant butterscotch-like fragrance when warmed by the sun.
