Conversation of cafe into public toilets and bathing station, Branksome Chine, Poole Dorset
A planning application from 1949 of converting the cafe at Branksome Chine in Poole into public toilets and a bathing station.
A small part of the building had been damaged by enemy action during the war and this part would be demolished. The public toilets have roughly the same layout as they do now and still have the 1940s Terrazzo floor while the changing rooms later became a shop and is now the Rockwater takeaway which opened in 2022. The neighbouring Solarium would have not been effected by the changes and has only changed recently as Rockwater's restaurant.
The former public toilets was a smaller building in the middle of the road outside which has been long demolished. During the war 'Dragon's Teeth' defences where placed in the area. The scheme seemed to be drawn by Borough of Poole architect J. R. Barrow.
