Attacking the Lickey
This picture was taken in conditions that most cameras in the 1960s weren't designed for but I have always loved it. The wet platform, a Black Five flat out, Midland box, orginal LMS station signs, driver and gantry would be enough but one of Loughborough's finest has the decency to complete this atmospheric scene.
As his trusty Black Five blasts through Bromsgrove with a Class C express freight the driver leans out knowing he has done all he can to climb the Lickey in the summer of 1962. Photograph by my Dad.
