MERLETTI ED ARTIGIANATO D' ARTE
A Burano si stima che i primi merletti risalgano al 1500. All’epoca la lavorazione del merletto si svolgeva solo ed esclusivamente in case signorili, utilizzando ago e filo senza il supporto di una tela. In questo modo è realizzato il “punto in aria” che permette di eseguire disegni geometrici, fiori, animali, volute e racemi.
Nel ‘600 si cominciò a ricamare utilizzando il “punto a rosette”, lavorato con piccoli fiori volanti e il “punto controtagliato”, utilizzato per le ampie volute a il rilievo nelle cordature di contorno. Questi ricami si si diffondono ben presto in Europa e le merlettaie di Burano sono chiamate perfino in Francia, per avviare un’importante creazione di pizzi.

LACE AND ART CRAFTSMANSHIP
In Burano it is estimated that the first laces date back to 1500. At the time, lace-making took place only and exclusively in stately homes, using needle and thread without the support of a canvas. In this way the "stitch in the air" is created which allows you to create geometric designs, flowers, animals, spirals and racemes.
In the 17th century, embroidery began using the "rosette stitch", worked with small flying flowers, and the "counter-cut stitch", used for the large scrolls and the relief in the contour cording. These embroideries soon spread throughout Europe and the lace makers of Burano were even called to France to start an important lace creation.
