Design #268: Barack Obama: 1943 Pan Am Boeing 314 'Dixie Clipper'

A proposed design for a White house cocktail salon connected electronically to the Oval Office desk via a 1/50 model of a 1943 Dixie Clipper, recalling the popular 1966 Batman TV series desktop statue controller to the Bat cave. Every modern President needs a cave retreat, and here FDR's famous cocktail salon is the model for such a place.
Obama's great presidential predecessor, FDR, created a cocktail culture that now receives a modern upgrade for the current president. The famous trap door under the oval office desk opens electronically via a control in the airplane scale model on the president's desk. The airplane's top slides open revealing a humidor for Robusto cigars with the control button in the center. Below the trap door, a slide brings the president down quickly to a set of carpeted stairs and through a makeshift airplane door of the West Wing Room W-16, now replicated from the interior of a Pan Am Dining lounge, ready with vintage phonograph, a full bar and FDR's famous cocktail shaker set, now replaced with a single blue stripe, recalling Pan Am's dinnerware of a bygone era. The lounge is modeled after the Clipper plane that took the FDR across the Atlantic in 1943.
