150. Luciano Pavarotti: Notes for an Opera Stadium

atelier ying, nyc.

A prominent architect noted that the perfect acoustic for an auditorium is a shoebox, but that no architect (at the time of his statement) had the courage (and perhaps the financial backing) to build one.

These are initial notes for my design so there's more to come.

Meanwhile i wish to introduce it in a small box of Swiss Villigers (3" x 4.5"), Pavarotti's favorite cigar during summer months. This Swiss Villigers cigar box is itself an architectural scale model of a large humidor i want to make and dedicate to this great opera singer. But as I mentioned, a small Swiss Villigers box will actually contain a gallery of initial drawings for this opera stadium.

As Pavarotti was a soccer fan, The auditorium will amalgamate elements of a soccer stadium into an opera stadium.
