47773 22/8/02 Toton

The first EWS Class 47/7 to undergo reliability modifications as part of a B17 exam (sometimes referred to as a Super E exam) was 47773, seen here inside the shed at Toton on Thursday 22nd August 2002. Nearing the completion of its exam, which included the fitting of 'The Queen Mother' nameplates from 47722, the loco makes a fine sight in EWS livery.

It made a return to traffic on 2nd September. As the former 47541 it was originally named after the The Queen Mother at Aberdeen in 1982 and carried the plates until 1990 when they were transferred to 47703.
