GREAT HALL WINDOWS, WINGFIELD MANOR, DERBYSHIRE_DSC_4633_LR_2.0-2
Built in 1439 by Ralph Lord Cromwell, Treasurer to King Henry VI as a palace. After the Civil War, the manor was slighted, i.e. brought to ruins. View is of part of original Great Hall. The lower windows were inserted in the side wall in late 17C. After the English Civil war there was a floor added to create a substantual house from the hall. View is of nave leading into chancel.
