Erie Canal Lock

After watching fishermen do their thing and police do their thing we ended up at the Erie Canal and took a cruise through locks 34 and 35. The water will rise to the green doors taking about 8 minutes or so and then the gates open and the boat moves through this lock to the next one.... two in a row. Fascinating process. Reverse on the way back. I was amazed at how fast the water comes in and goes out. These are not the original locks but there is one right next to this where you can see the original. The Erie Canal is still in use today and runs from the Hudson River in Albany New York all the way to Buffalo on Lake Erie. Well.... I think the rooster woke my campers up as they are starting to come in to thaw out (it was 48 degrees last night! (8.8 celsius)
