What I love about this photo is the way these two spinster ladies are sitting squeezed together on one half of the bench when the whole other half of the bench remains empty. I imagined that they came to that spot every afternoon and sat side by side like that, reading what closer inspection reveals to be Mills & Boon novels! Do these provide the romance that their lives have sadly lacked...?
