Pollenia vagabunda pinned male - Nottingham 3

The build is slimmer, longer-legged and longer-winged than other clusterflies.

There is a distinct dark median stripe at the front of the thorax that is unique to this species.

The abdomen has less conspicuous tessellations than other clusterflies (except P. amentaria). From some angles an almost complete dark band occurs across the bases of tergites 3-5 (apparent tergites 2-4).
