Wasabia japonica 'Mazuma' seed capsules
The real deal wasabi, and here are the developing seed pods! There's many bogus wasabi seeds are sold over the internet and very few pictures of the real deal seeds! Sorry, seeds aren't yet ripe, but I'll take photos of them when they're ready.
It was very surprising to see how many seeds were setting on this plant! It's hard to say if these are self pollinating or cross pollinating, but the clone is likely self compatible. These seed pods aren't yet mature despite the unique color of the ovary.
Interestingly, W. japonica 'Daruma' doesn't produce as many seed pods, and only the ones that were cross pollinated by hand seem to be taking, so I think that cultivar may be less self compatible.
