Hanfaninha's One Year Anniversary Exhibition: January 2010.

For our anniversary, we wanted to make this exhibition about something that we can all relate to, something that's been there year after year; something that almost certainly has inspired many artists and many art forms. After a long thought process we decided that downtown Cairo was an area of great substance, a place worthy of recognition. We've all walked through these streets hundreds, if not thousands of times. And for that reason, we have decided to make this exhibition about Qasr El Nil Street, the most famous, over-crowded street of our beautiful Cairo. In this street we found all sorts of people, places, traditions and landmarks. And through this exhibition we hope to pay homage to this street and its very own character. Through this exhibition we aim to find new and different ways of expressing and investigating this concept

The Irish Alexandrian Speaks Up And Out From Cairo wrote "Artists Basem Samir and Hala Sharouny had a different approach to the theme of Kasr El Nil, they thought of the people walking through the city and the shoes that they wear. Which brings to my mind, Walk A Mile In My Shoes. The painted a pair of stiletto heels and in side the out of the heels were buildings. The colors were formidable and eye-catching. It also reminded me of a well-known chocolatiers in New York City, also a former employee of Ralph Lauren who decorates, designs and makes edible chocolate high heel shoes. Each shoe is authentic colorful and original! I just loved Bassem and Halas interpretation of the theme! They got my vote for most creative."January 30, 2010
