Kelburn Castle, Ayreshire

Kelburn Castle, the home of the Earls of Glasgow, is in a commanding position, beside a spectacular glen and waterfall, half a mile from the sea, overlooking the islands of the Firth of Clyde. It has been in the Boyle family for over 800 years, probably making it the oldest castle in Scotland to have been inhabited by the same family. Its present owners, Patrick and Isabel Boyle, tenth Earl and Countess of Glasgow, continue to use Kelburn as a family home, although it is available for functions.
