Dos-à-dos bookbinding. Back to back volumes. Two separate books attached to one another. It is fascinating. Embroidered English Psalms and New Testament. Published in the year 1610.

 

Is that a pink dogwood flower mandala in the center? Appears so to me.

 

I'm posting this pic for inspiration, both for myself and others. I'm increasingly interested in book arts and beading, I've never thought of combining those two activities before though.

 

The picture is from part of an article about the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. Found in a copy of National Geographic Magazine, February 1987. Check out all the thrift stores near you for your own copy.
