With that complete, I turned to the Ball screws themselves. The X axis ball screw only needed to be assembled so I started there. A ball screw is basically a screw that uses a nut that circulates ball bearings rather than a fixed thread to create a very low friction, high accuracy fit. The catch is that threading the nut onto the screw is kind of tricky to do without scattering the ball bearings everywhere. So I usually do it over top of a tightly taped up box to catch any bearings should things go wrong.
