I had removed an entire buckle before I got the tiny pang of "I'm

cutting my Birkenstocks!"

 

and no, I can't quite discard the spare parts yet. baby steps. teeny,

tiny, bitty baby steps. however, the almost completely worry-free

"I'll wear 'em if I cut 'em; let's just do that *right now*" is

surprisingly satisfying.
