Inside the Church

A residential and commercial neighborhood in Songjiang - 30km from central Shanghai. Most of the houses were bought by investors or people who live in Shanghai during the week and are empty.

Built to resemble an English town, some of the architecture has been directly copied from buildings found in England, including the church (copied from one in Clifton, Bristol) and a pub and fish and chip shop - now closed (copied from buildings in Lyme Regis, Dorset).

At least 80% of the shops are vacant and there are no pedestrians or traffic. However, it is reasonably maintained and a pretty area.
