Sennen Cove all weather Lifeboat, City of London III was requested to launch at 1926 (local time) by Falmouth Coastguard, following reports from a yacht that they were low on fuel and struggling to sail.

The Lifeboat launched at 1935, arriving on scene 10 minutes later. On arrival the yacht was sailing well but tacking to make a southerly course into the wind. After a short discussion the yacht's crew lowered the sails and a tow was set up for Newlyn harbour.

On arrival at the harbour entrance the tow was let go, and under escort from the lifeboat, the casualty vessel made her own way into the harbour on what little fuel they had left, berthing safely at 2210.

The Lifeboat immediately left Newlyn harbour arriving back on station at 2300.
