Orchard orb weaver just hanging around.
Taken two years ago in early May, here's an orchard orb weaver that built her web where I always find them... beside the propane gas tank behind my garage. The gray background is the tank, which made a nice neutral tone backdrop. This year there were none present, here by the tank, or anywhere else around my place where I usually find them. Jumping spiders, funnel weavers and nursery web spiders are also scarce. Maybe it's the weather.
Taken with an Olympus OM-D E-M1Mark II camera using a 60mm f/2.8 macro lens focused at infinity, with a "three element "mystery" lens (pedigree forgotten), mounted on the 60mm. The photo would have been sharper if I had reverse mounted the supplemental lens. The sharper orientation was discovered with later testing.
