Longhorn Cattle, Young County, Texas
Returning from an afternoon of shooting pics around Eliasville, we were driving back to Newcastle on FM 3109 when we encountered this guy and a dozen others. It was late, just before 9pm and the light was really fading fast. Thinking it was getting too dark. we drove past and after nearly a mile decided to go back and grab a few pics. I was really impressed with how well the iPhone handled the dim lighting.
The cattle were very cooperative, with young ones appearing to be very curious and walking right up to the fence. Many times cattle spook and disappear into the brush as soon as we get out of the truck, but not this bunch. I would have liked to get a measurement of the spread of these horns... had a tape measure in my camera bag, but decided there wasn't a safe way to do it.
