676-1969_06_28 RAL378

Rarely a company to follow the crowd, Barton Transport was unusual among English operators in buying this style of Alexander bodywork, built in quantity for Scottish Bus Group companies. The first ones bought were Leyland Tiger Cubs, and were followed by three batches of similarly bodied AEC Reliances. One of the Tiger Cubs, RAL378, was laying over near Mount Street Bus Station, Nottingham in June 1969, when this picture was taken, during the temporary arrangements operating whilst the new Bus Station (opened in November 1969) was being built.
