Brown Pelican

I dipped on the light morph Ferruginous Hawk that morning and was on my way out and noticed this solo alternate plumaged handsome male pelican. He was preening here for a long time. I was hoping it would take off, but he was content and stayed. I am always fascinated by that bright red pouch when they get into this form. A nice departing treat after my failed Ferruginous hunt.
