Throwback Thursday (540)
This week we are going back 11 years to 2015, and to GT 4 on Armagh Road with a service on route 17 to Blackrock.
Route 17 started running between Dolphin's Barn and Blackrock around 1971, with its western terminus becoming Rialto around 1982. Until 1990, the Blackrock terminus was on Newton Avenue. It then moved to the railway station. In January 2019, Go-Ahead Ireland took over the operation of the route. The route ceased to operate in November 2023 under changes brought in by Bus Connects. It was partially replaced by routes 74, S4 and S6. Route 74 now serves this bus stop in Kimmage.
GT 4 was new to Dublin Bus in 2012. Initially allocated to Donnybrook Garage, it moved to Harristown in 2022, and then to Clontarf in 2026. It is a bus that has seen a lot of the city.
