Throwback Thursday (537)

This week we are going back thirty-four years to 1992 and to RH 55 parked at Connolly Station, dressed for route 27B.

Route 27B started running between the city centre and Castletimon in 1971, going via Fairview and Artane. In 2004 it was extended to Harristown.

RH 55 was new to Dublin Bus in 1990. It was withdrawn in 2002 and sold on to another Irish operator. It became an open-top tour bus in Dublin. By 2010 it was a tour bus in Belfast, before finally being withdrawn in 2019.

The bus is parked on the old road entrance to Connolly Station, known as "The Ramp". It was levelled in the early-2000s so it could become the tram stop on the Luas Red Line. For decades buses were parked there in between duties.
