Throwback Thursday (474)
This week we are going back twenty-four years to 2001 and to ML 9 on College Street with a service on route 155 to Limekiln.
This version of route 155 started in 1994. It replaced former route 55, and became part of the City Imp network. The route ceased to operate in 2001 when it was replaced by an extended route 19A. A second version of route 155 started in 2019, running between IKEA and Bray. it ceased to operate in 2025 under Bus Connects. Neither route had very long lives.
ML 9 was new to Dublin Bus in 1994, originally in City Imp red/yellow livery. The ML Class was withdrawn around 2001.
Dublin Bus introduced the Localink brand in the late-1980s on minibuses. The brand ceased to be in the early-2000s. In 2007 a private operator started a new service in South Dublin under the similar name Locolink, but it only lasted about 6 months. In more recent years Transport for Ireland have used Local Link as a brand for some rural services.
