1964 Bond MK G Estate
Similar to my first car. This one is fitted with a 250cc twin cylinder Villiers engine, as were two other Mark Gs at the rally. The car was also available with a 250cc single. The latter were more common as they were cheaper to buy and the engines tended to be more reliable and were much more economical.
I've got mixed memories of mine. It was my first car; something always fondly remembered by a car enthusiast. Objectively though, it was an unreliable, slow, and very noisy heap. The driving chain kept coming off. I could put it back on pretty quickly, but that wasn't much fun on a cold, wet night, with traffic edging round you. It needed replacement sprockets which would have cost more than the car was worth and I, being still at school, couldn't really afford.
This car only has an MOT history since 2012 and only covers a few hundred miles each year. I love the simplicity of it.
