A Surprise Sighting

Woke up early and drove to Carden Alvar today to see grassland birds. Cool weather and high winds kept the birds low in the bushes; however, I was surprised to see this beauty at the edge of a forested area, north of Sedge Wren marsh on the west side of Wylie Road. He was standing up and looking curiously around. He stayed there about a minute before disappearing in the woods behind. Also saw a Blanding's Turtle on Wylie Road. It is wonderful to see a wild animal such as a Black Bear in its natural habitat in less than two hours drive north from downtown Toronto. Hope we keep their habitat intact for all to see and enjoy. Carden Alvar, Kirkfield, Ontario.
