The extraordinary costume design, the high-pitched singing, and the dramatic dances - the Beijing opera was nothing like the quite, well-mannered performances we see at Carnegie Hall or the Lincoln Center. Through the opera, I felt the vivacious way of life in China that is purely unique from the rest of the world.
