Macroscopic ephemeral Footprints
People leave behind evidence of their existence on a global scale which is greatly effecting our world, but what about the everyday debatage people leave behind in the mundane laymen life? There is evidence of existence where ever we go, and people are unconscious of the minute footprints they leave behind each time they enter an environment. The amount of destruction is enormous in a college house of sophomore boys, which is where I got my inspiration. From things put away poorly to garbage left lying around for days, it becomes obvious that the observed was a task forgotten, because of the cluttered mind of a teenager. These instances occur on a local community scale as well, with coffee cups left behind at bus stations, or the misplaced grocery item left behind in the wrong section. The importance of these seemingly static scenes is the haphazardness of the unconscious mind that reacts without any thought beyond what we can consider instinct. Instinct to litter, misplace, and to forget. Many assume these items left are ephemeral and will make it to their rightful place, therefore leave it for the next observant soul to handle. These disturbances to the mundane directly reflect the larger issues of man's connection with the tragedy of the commons.
