At some point, the welcome mat was removed at Kaholuamanu and the routes shifted west onto state land. The Camp 10 road was completed. It'd be shorter going from the end of the Camp 10 Road, hitting the six raingauges on the way to Waialeale probably still using Keaku Cave as a camp.
