In 2020, Winsum was voted the most beautiful village in the Netherlands.
The jury, appointed by the ANWB, is very enthusiastic about Winsum:
'A lively village with the amenities of a small town, lovely streets to wander through, two churches, two mills and that beautiful Winsumerdiep, a blue vein through the buildings. A beautiful village!',

De jury, benoemd door de ANWB, is erg enthousiast over Winsum:
‘Een levendig dorp met de voorzieningen van een kleine stad, heerlijke straatjes om doorheen te dwalen, twee kerken, twee molens en dat schitterende Winsumerdiep, een blauwe ader door de bebouwing. Een prachtdorp!’,
