Common Kingfisher
Another day out trying to photograph Kingfishers in early August. After the last trip which was excellent with lots of visits, this day was going to be a struggle with only few visits and long long periods of nothing.
This was to be my last Kingfisher outing of 2023.
This male Kingfisher posses for the camera.
The Common Kingfisher is a small bird with unmistakable plumage. Its back is bright metallic blue and its breast is a coppery-brown. The beak is long and black, though females have a red patch at the base.
