Longshaw Lodge, Derbyshire. Postcard published about 1930
This postcard must have been published after the Duke of Rutland had sold the estate in 1927 to Sheffield City Council. The National Trust acquired the estate in 1931 after a fund raising appeal.
The Holiday Fellowship looked after the main lodge property as a walkers hostel, so the sign saying REFRESHMENTS at the left hand end may be their work, or possibly the National Trust?
The old car just visible to the left hand side of the central stone staircases, either side of the basement entrance, looks like a 1920's model, but I'm not sure what.
All ideas to fill out this story welcomed.
