Disney Store Limited Edition Jasmine Doll #1335
My pre-ordered doll from DisneyStore.com arrived today via UPS, which was nice, considering that today was also the day that the dolls were available for pick up to those that pre-ordered her in-store. For some reason on the box label, she was called LE Jasmine Teal Live. I have no idea what makes her "Live."
Like all Disney Store Jasmine dolls from the past few years, she is not a "perfect" rendering of the character to me, but she is a very beautiful doll who resembles Jasmine well enough. I am a little bothered by the bombée forehead they keep giving her, which is accentuated more by the way her hair is pulled back from her face. In the actual animated films, her hair actually covers her forehead with the thick, voluminous waves of raven hair that should frame her face better than these dolls ever do. This dolls eyes are gorgeously decorated with rooted eyelashes and gold and teal eye shadow. Her skin does have that bizarre oily-looking sheen to it, which she could have done without.
The Disney Store decided to keep with their more current jazzed-up version of Jasmine's traditional outfit, with a bra top and harem pants with an open outer skirt around the pants. Once again, they chose a rather dark teal for her outfit instead of the blend of light turquoise and sky blue that she wears in the animated films, but as always, the dark teal still looks good on her. She is decked out in gold-colored jewelry (headdress, necklace, earrings, bracelets, and belt), which are set with complimentary blue gems that look like London Blue Topaz. Her bra top and the broad hem border of the open skirt are embroidered with peacock feather motifs.
Overall, I am glad that I did get this Jasmine doll, as she is lovely and she belongs in my DS LE Princess doll collection, not to mention that she completes the group of six Disney Princesses of Heart. I hate the factory pose (as I often do), as it makes her look very unlikable for some reason, not to mention her hair looked so severely pulled back. So I did turn my doll's head forward, pulled some of her hair forward and out to frame her face better, and changed the position of her left hand to suit my taste. I think she looks much more appealing now in the box.
