Curly-Leaves

This is another fine example of parallel venation along with etiolation. The leaves of a yucca plant grow very tall and vertical. At some point they do bend, generally due to the weight of the leaf. This is also a strong example of a monocot with parallel venation and is part of the agave family. The strings or ‘curls’ are fiber from the leave that have been used to string instruments or in weaving.
