Class Gift from TUCOM Class of 2006
I was class president for my medical school, Touro University College of Osteopathic medicine. This is what I came up with for a 'class gift'. We also donated a big chunk of change (a couple thousand dollars) to Doctors Without Borders [www.doctorswithoutborders.org]. The rose bush symbolizes the school, and the pipe symbolizes the rather industrial setting where the school is located on Mare Island, a former naval base. The pipe was actually procured and cut at this dramatic angle at XKT Engineering [www.xktengineering.com], which is located across the street from the campus. They were really good sports about the whole thing even though they usually much larger and much more industrially geared projects. I also have to thank Jay Ritchie who is in charge of maintenance at TUCOM for all his help getting this thing in place and sending me these pictures of it.
