just whistle...
From 1944, "To Have and Have Not", was Bacall and Bogie's first film together. I remember this quote as " if you need me, just whistle." And it comes up that way in online searches. But (as I am wont to do) I decided to fact-check. As it turns out, the quote is a little different, but that often happens with popular movie lines.
With Bacall as Slim and Bogie as Steve, she says:
You know you don't have to act with me, Steve. You don't have to say anything, and you don't have to do anything. Not a thing. Oh, maybe just whistle. You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and... blow.
Steve actually had a power boat, but I only have a sail boat in my prop drawer - so hope you'll forgive my poetic (photographic?) license.
The whistle is a silver charm - now quite tarnished - from an old bracelet. It actually works and is just over an inch (2.8cm) long.
