I NEEDED another...

"We meet again", The tattooist smiled,

"The broken always bring their pieces back

for me to draw upon…"

I needed another.

I wanted a meaningless tattoo.

An image that has no intrinsic value to me

that I can continually reinterpret,

and shape according to my whims.

Making it unique to me,

over and over again.

He paused., Like He thought of a joke.

About to say something, but He merely pointed to his tattoo table.

I settle on it and he asks, "Are you ready darling?"

I nod Yes in an uncaring way...

The needle sung against my skin.

I remember incredible pain and feeling a strange sort of trust as He scarred me forever that night.

Later, in my bathroom, I pulled off the bandage and gazed at the new mark.

It was a silhouette of Man in a cloak. strange...& Mysterious

A meaningless tattoo.

A riddle with a thousand answers

and no truth.
