Marque of Achievement

My full time working career was in one place, Port Talbot Steel Works, in the 39 years I was there I worked for 4 different companies without ever changing jobs:-

British Steel Corporation (Nationalised)

BSC plc (Privatised)

Corus

Tata Steel

In the November of 2006 the steel plant that I worked in set a production record of 104,000 tonnes of liquid steel (100,000 tonnes of slab) made in 1 week. That meant the plant, on average, made 10 tonnes of steel every minute for 10,080 minutes.

In recognition of the achievement the steel and slab work force were each given a watch to mark the record.

At the top of the dial is the, now almost forgotten, logo of Corus.
