Ownership inscription, possibly from the Jesuit residence at Enghien, Belgium
Bibliotheca August[...?] Angiae[?]
[For Angia, Graesse gives Enghien, Hainaut, Belgium (home of a notable Jesuit library looted by the Nazis) and its namesake, the French commune Enghien-les-Bains north of Paris. In addition, the French duchy of Montmorency was renamed the Duchy of Enghien from 1689 until the Revolution. The commune of Montmorency, founded during the Revolution, was renamed Enghien in 1815; Montmorency persisted in rather confusing parallel usage until 1832, when it formally and finally replaced Enghien.
Provenance indications for the Jesuit residence at Enghien, Belgium, include a bookplate ("Bibliotheca S.J. Maison Saint-Augustin Enghien") and stamp ("Collegium Angiense Societatis Jesu"). Cf. this book.]
