[Ms. ownership inscription of the Biblioteca Altempsiana. It was founded by the Austrian churchman Markus Sittikus von Hohenems, Cardinal Altemps (1531-1595), nephew of Pope Pius IV, at the Palazzo Altemps in Rome and expanded by his nephew Mark Sittich, Archbishop of Salzburg (1574-1619). (Both men are also known by the Italianized form of their name, Marco Sittico Altemps, Altemps being a calque of Hohenems.) The library was eventually absorbed into the Biblioteca vaticana.]
