Porters Creek

Anthony Heflin and I just got back from a trip down to the Smokies to get some wildflower shots. We spent a lot of time in the Porters Creek area despite it being a disappointment in flowers, the water here is probably as photogenic as anywhere in the park. This is from the bridge that leads over to the Ramsey Cascade Trail.

 

One great thing about being in the Smokies in spring is the streams with the heavy water flow, the perfect time to shoot them and dusting off the processing techniques that have often been shelved for a lengthy period. I have been perfecting my water processing for years and have developed some techniques (ever evolving) that allow for fullness of the whitewater appearance while ditching the over-exposure that can walk with it hand in hand, and also keeping a lot of detail that gets lost in multi-second shutter times. Having it all if you will. I almost never use filters, and didn't in this case, just post processing. I left the photo larger than normal so be sure to click on it and have a better look at the detail.
