A hole Ø14 through the length of a piece of wood 380mm long had to be drilled from either end. The top ram of the Bridgeport was swung on the column so that the length of the wood could hang below the table. Drilling from each end was done it two operations: full stroke of the quill feed – and retract, lift table, and repeat full quill feed, etc.
